Where did Emerging Threats Pro come from?

Emerging Threats Pro has its roots in the EmergingThreats.net open source community.

The ET Open ruleset is a significant part of the ET Pro ruleset, but the ET Pro ruleset goes much further employing a team of researchers working 24×7 not only to add to the ET Pro ruleset but improve and QA the ET Open ruleset.

Who are we?

Emerging Threats Pro is all about cyber security research, and pushing the boundaries of what it’s possible to detect and protect within hours to provide comprehensive, fast and innovative coverage to our subscriber community.

The talent and technical expertise behind the Emerging Threats Pro ruleset is the same that has brought you the Emerging Threats.net project for the last 10+ years. Our team of researchers and developers has been drawn from amongst the brightest minds in the ET Open community.

What makes the ET Pro ruleset unique?

The Emerging Threats Pro ruleset is the first engine agnostic ruleset on the market.

This fundamentally alters the landscape of the IDS/IPS ruleset market by offering customers operating a variety of IDS engines the ability to run a single ruleset.

Until October 2010. when Emerging Threats launched the ET Pro ruleset, security-conscious organizations had been restricted to using the signatures supplied with the platform or hardware that fit their technical needs, or manually combining open research into their commercial rulesets to boost coverage.

The ET Pro ruleset has changed that completely. We have no interest in one platform or engine selling more than another, or making one technology look better than another. Emerging Threats simply focuses 100% on the quality, speed and coverage of the rules for every platform you choose to deploy. This also makes using multiple engines in the same network, or transitioning between technologies very easy.

Comprehensive, malware focused coverage is now available whether running an older version of Snort, current Snort, moving to the next-generation IDS engine Suricata or running them on innovative new proprietary security appliances. An Emerging Threats Pro subscription will support them all!
